Coats for Kids

Little did we know the impact we would make as we started to identify and connect with kids across the state through firefighters as they ran calls, or agencies like Big Brothers & Sisters across Kansas and even local teachers and churches who have helped us identify kids in need along the way.  Not only do firefighters get to enjoy the gift of giving kids coats, scarves, hats and gloves, but they also brighten the day of families in ways they never imagined.

With the help of proceeds from calendar sales and a partnership with local fire departments we purchase coats and provide winter wear to over 500 children every year.  We are expecting the need to grow this coming year with a large number of families affected by layoffs and downsizing of many businesses.

The Kansas Firefighters Museum in partnership with FireHouse Subs (Wichita locations), and KSN invite the public to donate a new winter item (hat, gloves, scarf, or coat) for a child in need.  We identify children through various groups of firefighters, police officers, social workers, and various community support organizations.

What:  Coats For Kids Drive
When:  Starting the week of Thanksgiving
