Read This Before Applying

So you’re interested in becoming a Kansas Firefighter Calendar contestant. How exciting! There are a few things you should know before submitting your application.

The Kansas Firefighter Calendar functions under a completely volunteer basis. We appreciate the firefighters who are willing to join our cause to support Coats for Kids and The Kansas Firefighters Museum.  We are inviting career, wildland, volunteer, and retired Kansas Firefighters from across the State of Kansas to apply for the 2016 Calendar.


  • Male and female firefighters of all ages are welcome to apply.
  •  Must be at least 21 years of age by April 8th, 2016.
  • Must be actively volunteering or employed with a Kansas Fire Department regardless of residence, a wildland firefighter or retired Kansas firefighter.
  • Submit 2 photos that shows you at your best – one head pic and one full body pic. Men: photos may be shirtless (Not required). Women: sports, fitted crop-tops are acceptable.
  • NO skimpy bikini’s or inappropriate pictures, as these will automatically disqualify your entry.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the calendar committee and qualifying contestants are selected to vie for a spot on the 2016 calendar.
  • Selected finalists will be invited to appear in a Celebrity Judging Event on Friday, May 22nd at the Scottish Rite Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Judging Event:

  • Phase One: Firefighters will participate in a short interview by local celebrity judges.
  • Intermission: You will be allowed to change clothes and prepare for the second phase of judging.
  • Phase Two: Firefighters may request a more detailed interview; but are also allowed to show any talents or skills to the judges.
    Props are welcome. All “acts” and props must be pre-approved.
  • Optional: Male firefighters are allowed to remove their shirts, females are allowed to wear sports tops or Tank tops.
  • Firefighters are encouraged to bring their bunker gear, boots and department t-shirts.

The 13 finalists agree to:

  • Attend the introductory meeting.
  • Attend two photo shoots including the individual and group shoots.
  • Attend the debut event for calendar release.
  • Attend signing events, throughout the year.
  • Commit to selling a minimum of 50 calendars.
  • Attend the Coats for Kids distribution day (Saturday, December 5th, 2016).
